Ante Up!!
Pursuant to Jeffy's announcement (below), and in keeping with the poker hand "Texas Hold 'Em" approach to this season's pool, I hereby challenge everyone to "ante up".
Everyone who wishes to participate in the pool must also risk some pop culture artifact currently in their possession. Perhaps you have a Spongebob keychain, or a pair of Elmo socks, or a very rare MacGyver Pez dispenser. Regardless, raid your junk drawers and treasure boxes and bring something to the table.
All the artifacts will be put in a shoebox, and at the end of the tournament, the winner of the pool will receive this awe-inspiring prize!
You can let us know your artifact choice in the usual way (email, or as part of your comment that announces your interest).

okee dokee, i'm in. :) don't know what artefact i'm donating yet, and i've got to give my draft picks some thought over the holidays, but i will have a pool picked and submitted before the new year's eve deadline.
let the games begin!

I'm in and willing to wager big. Too bad Magnum P.I. didn't make the list because I was going to put up my Ferrari. Hilary Duff didn't make it either so I can't give up my autographed poster (thank God!). I am either going to have to go with my slightly used Buffy the Vampire Slayer blow up doll or Incredible Hulk underwear. I'll keep you posted.
We will have to turn up the promotion machine on Friday night.
I will try to print off some calling cards with the site address so people can check it out.

Wow! 10 bettors. That means that over half of the characters are on someones list - which will result in some round 1 casualties. Round 2 is going to be really interesting.
With 10 bettors, that also means 10 items up for grabs (assuming we all stick it out). My question is in regards to payouts. Is it going to be winner take all, or will there be a first second and third place prize? Perhaps, because of the nature of the competition, it's only first and second.
Now, it could be that the same bettor has the top two or three competitors as finalists, in which case it's a moot point - but I highly doubt that is going to happen.
And if there is more than a winner take all distribution of treasures, how do you decide who gets what. Should it be a blind draw, or does the winner choose, then second, then third? So many possibilities...
Ahhhh_Crap

As with all things, I'll defer to the commissioner.
Nevertheless, each team in the pool will get a composite score (and it's even possible that the team with the winning icon won't have the best score overall - last time, moxywoman had la linea, but vicbear was the overall points leader). In any case, it's possible to award prizes for champ, second, and also pool point champ and second, or something like that - maybe even a consolation prize for the person whose team places last?

My choice would be:
The person with the highest composite score will get the shoebox of treasures.
Anyone still holding icons going into the finals should deserve some kind of a prize, but I'm not sure what that could be.
The person with the lowest composite score will get a consolation prize to be determined later(since that is likely to be me, I think it should be a new car)
Personally, I still haven't decided on a good icon treasure to risk yet, maybe when I finally organize my basement office something will emerge.
